Steps to Complete Your Project

Strong organization and great planning make a huge difference in the success of your project. Use this step-by-step tool to help.

Step 1

Investigate and define the issue that you are interested in improving.

What would help the problem? How will you know that it helped? Email us about the project. We would love to help! Consider if you need any money to accomplish your project. If so, you may want to start a grant application at this time.

Step 2

Brainstorm ideas for your project. Gather others who would like to help.

Write down your plan. Decide exactly what you will do, including when, where, who is involved, how many people are needed, what will happen and why. Determine the amount of money (if any) needed to accomplish your plan.

Step 3

Prepare and plan your project.

Gather a team of enough people to help you. Create goals and a list of what needs to be done. Be specific.

Create a calendar and give each goal and task a due date, so you can accomplish everything within your timeframe. Assign specific tasks to each team member.

If you need money and you haven’t already applied, consider completing a grant application with DAYS. Applications are due on the 15th of each month.

Step 4

Action! Do the project!

Take a lot of pictures and make notes. Enjoy your success.

Step 5

Document and Decide

Use your pictures and notes to document your project. Determine how your project helped fix a problem, meet a need, or solve an issue.

Share this information with DAYS so we can celebrate with you and inspire others.
